Youth Opportunity Program (YOP) Tax Credit Information

IF YOU MAKE A GIFT OF $1,000 OR MORE, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A 50% TAX CREDIT ON YOUR MISSOURI STATE TAXES

The Youth Opportunity Program (YOP), administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides tax credits to individuals or organizations administering positive youth development projects.

All individuals, LLCs, partnerships, banks or corporations with Missouri tax liability are eligible for the program. Any donation of $1,000 or more is eligible for a 50% Missouri state tax credit.

Our YOP donations are used to fund our local Community Impact efforts, enabling Parents as Teachers National Center (PATNC) to offer evidenced-based home visiting and parent education to high-need families within the Normandy Schools Collaborative footprint and to teen parents in North St. Louis County, St. Louis City and Pemiscot, Missouri.

Gifts in Action

PARENTS AS TEACHERS IN THE NORMANDY, MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT

In 2013, an assessment of Normandy school district kindergarteners found that 56% were below developmental norms.  The Normandy Schools Collaborative has contracted Parents as Teachers National Center to provide families residing in Normandy school district with access to high-quality Parents as Teachers services.

To date Parents as Teachers has enrolled 100 families residing in the Normandy Schools Collaborative.  A total of 425 child developmental screenings have occurred and 37 youth were referred to Special School District for additional services.  Parents have had the opportunity to participate in 11 family support group meetings and 10 community events, plus more than 2,500 age-appropriate books have been distributed to children and 40+ families received holiday assistance.

In addition to the contract with the District, the Parents as Teachers National Center has worked closely with a variety of private funders to raise $266,186 to support efforts to expand services to more families in the Normandy district.
